Gyoza is a standard menu item in Chinese cuisine. I think water gyoza is the mainstream in China, but grilled gyoza is the mainstream in Japan. Since I was a kid, I've been going to Chinese chain restaurants in Japan a lot because they're cheap and easy to satisfy your hunger. As an adult, I often go there to drink alcohol. The classics are ramen and gyoza. I order the gyoza many times, especially since it's cheaper than other menu items. There are many ways to eat it. Today, I'd like to introduce how I eat at the Chinese restaurant chains I frequent, ``Gyoza no Ohsho'' and ``Hidakaya.''
Gyoza no Ohsho
You can order 6 pieces per plate or even 3 pieces. In the past, each store would make one gyoza by filling the skin with the filling. Still, it was very cheap, as you could eat it for around 200 yen. Each piece is large enough and has plenty of volume. Eat with gyoza sauce and chili oil, which are tabletop seasonings. Some stores also have miso sauce. At first, I usually eat it with gyoza sauce. It is sometimes eaten with vinegar soy sauce or vinegar pepper, which is common in the Kanto region, but it is basically a gyoza sauce. 2 dishes can be eaten easily. It is also eaten with sauce such as Happona. Choose gyoza with or without garlic. For lunch at work, I often ate gyoza without garlic.
Hidakaya
You can order 6 pieces per plate or even 3 pieces. It's also very reasonably priced. The size of each piece is smaller than Osho. Since it is light to eat, it is easy to add one item to other menus.
Make vinegar soy sauce by combining vinegar and soy sauce, which are table-top seasonings, and eat it. When I want to eat something refreshing, I make vinegar and pepper by combining vinegar and pepper. I think many Chinese restaurants in the Kanto region serve this style.
There are other Chinese restaurant chains, but I think most of them use the store's original sauce for their gyoza or make it themselves by adding table seasonings. At gyoza specialty restaurants, you'll probably eat them without the sauce, or with elaborate sauces. You can also eat gyoza at ramen restaurants.
